Rory Sullivan Checks In

Rory Sullivan at the Calgary National in 2004.

Occasionally we get mail from U.S. riders who have raced the Canadian Nationals in the past and are missing their second home. (It really does happen. Remember the friendly Texan, James Marshall? He called after Mission just to see what was happening.) We recently received this letter from Oregon rider Rory Sullivan. Sullivan is hoping to find his way onto a Canadian team for the 2006 season.

Hello RXC,
I am looking to establish a partnership for my 2006 Canadian racing efforts. My goal is to promote my sponsors and their products to the best of my ability and to provide a professional attitude for a team and their sponsors. I feel that a rider can only do so much on their own, and you need a team's support and atmosphere to help take you to the next level. I would like an opportunity to show the motocross community what Rory Sullivan can really do.

I raced a full season in Canada back in 2003. I did it out of my van and by myself. I did it because I love what I do and I had a blast. I finished out the season 16th in the 250 class. It was enough for me to want to come back, and I did. I raced the 125 west class in 2004. I used what I learned the year before and finished 7th, once again with little to no help. I raced in the States for the summer of 2005 (all the while wishing I was up north instead) and competed in the AMA Nationals in the 250 class qualifying for two rounds.  My best moto finish was a 24th.

Now that the 2005 season is winding down, I'm thinking about what's next and where I want to be. The answer is in Canada going for a championship in the MX2 or MX1 class. So if anyone is interested in helping a rider (born with too much heart to give up) achieve his goals, I'm a free agent.
