Looking for the new standard in motocross boots? Look no further - the new SG12 from Gaerne is it! Well, that’s debatable but it’s a pretty impressive boot. Gaerne’s SG10 is a favourite among racers, and we’re guessing the additional two digits means this one is even better. You definitely can’t say the SG12 isn’t a step forward; the boot is improved in all departments.

The most talked about and noticeable feature is the dual pivot system that provides a hinged ankle for flexibility and a second movement for harder landings. It makes for a comfortable fit right from day one. Shifting can sometimes be difficult with a new boot, but that’s not a problem with the SG12.

Hard to believe, but the SG12's made me look even more stylish on a bike. Still slow ... but stylish.

Durability won’t be an issue either. A new toe and heel bumper are added for better protection and there a new insole is anatomically shaped for comfort. I will admit, with the comfortable, “broke in” feel the boot had on the first ride, I was worried it may lack support, but it doesn’t. I think I could case a supercross triple several times with these and still walk away.

All of this toughness, innovation and support is wrapped in a very stylish package. It’s like Ricky Carmichael said on the Jason Ellis Show: “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you ride good.” I don’t know if that’s true but I like to believe in it.

The new SG12 will be available September 1st.
