75 Up-and-Coming Riders to Test the Olympic Stadium MotoX course

SPECIAL PROGRAM SET UP FOR YOUNG HOPEFULS AT THE MONTRÉAL SUPERCROSS

Montréal, August 14, 2008 - The organizers of the Montreal Supercross are pleased to announce a joint program with the Quebec section of the Canadian Motorsport Racing Club to showcase up-and-coming motocross and ATV riders, the weekend of the Montréal Supercross where Jean-Sébastien Roy will give a final salute to his Montréal fans. Seventy-five aspiring champions will tackle the Olympic Stadium course on the Friday night before the 31st edition, scheduled to take place Saturday, September 20.

"Hundreds of young kids, aged 6 to 12 years old, enter motocross competition on a regular basis across Québec," says Pierre Corbeil - Executive Producer of the event. "Among these kids, there are future champions like Jean-Sébastien Roy. These young hopefuls must be given the opportunity to showcase their skills and ride a professional course just to give them a taste of things to come. This is why we have decided to let them have a go on the Olympic Stadium course during an evening of racing. It will be their night. Who knows, maybe some will be the future stars of the Montréal Supercross several years down the road."

For this special night on Friday, September 19, the partners have decided to graciously offer track time on the Olympic Stadium course to each of the top 15 amateur riders in the final Québec 2008 standings in the 50 cc, 65 cc, 85 cc and Junior 125 cc motocross classes as well as to the best in the ATV intermediate class. The list of the drivers will be known on September 15, the day after the final Quebec Championship race weekend. Each of the selected drivers will be allowed to invite a limited number of guests for this event. Even though this event will not be open to the public, members of the media are invited to come and find out more about these future champions and report on their performances.

Last weekend, the 2008 Canadian Motocross Championship held its penultimate round at Sand Del Lee Motorsport Park in Richmond, a community located south west of Ottawa. MX1 Pro Moto Championship point leader Colton Faciotti won the two main events, which moved him closer to his first-ever Canadian Championship crown. Last year's runner-up in the final standings, the 20-year old Aldergrove, BC Yamaha rider now leads Dusty Klatt (Yamaha) by 38 points. Klatt, the 2006 National Champion from Campbell River, BC has moved into second place, 11 points ahead local hero Tyler Medaglia (Suzuki) who only completed three laps in the second event after finishing second in the opening race. In the MX2 Championship, point leader Eric Nye (KTM), from California, collected only 38 points in Richmond to see his lead cut to 43 points ahead of Yamaha rider Kyle Beaton from Vancouver who scored 50 points by winning both events at Sand Del Lee. Quebec rider Kaven Benoît (Kawasaki) registered his best points results in only his third national event this year, with a 5th and 6th place. That score moved him into 14th place overall. The final Canadian Motocross Championship round will be held this weekend in Walton, Ontario.

Two of the major players on the ATV manufacturers front, BRP (Can-Am) and Yamaha, have announced that they will be sending their big guns to the Montréal Supercross. Their best Quads works riders from their American and Canadian teams have been registered in the ATV race for the September 20 event at the Olympic Stadium. Race fans will see in action Kentucky rider Jeremy Lawson from Team Epic Racing as well as Californian Sage Baker and Greg Gee from Simcoe, Ontario. Team Warnert riders John Natalie from Houtzdale, Pennsylvania, who scored the first-ever AMA Pro ATV win for Can-Am, and Cody Miller from Greenville, Texas, last year's winner at the Montréal Supercross, will also be back. Lawson, Natalie, Miller, Gee, and Baker respectively finished 5th, 7th, 10th, 15th and 16th in the 2008 AMA Pro ATV championship series that concluded its 2008 season last weekend in Tennessee. They will join NDP Sport/PLX Sport Team Quebec riders Michael Ouellette and Jimmy Morin, as well as Richard Pelchat, another Can-Am works rider. Ouellette, Pelchat and Morin are currently in 1st, 2nd and 7th place overall in the Canadian Championship.

On the other hand, Yamaha USA has chosen to send 18-year old sensation Thomas Brown from Sanger, Texas, the newly-crowned 2008 AMA Pro ATV Pro-Am Production Series champion as well as Pittstown, New Jersey rider Patrick Brown who finished third in the 2007 AMA Pro ATV standings. They will join Quebec rider Jasmin Plante, the only Yamaha Canada ATV works rider, who is currently third in the Canadian standings. The names of the other ATV manufacturer works riders to attend the Montréal Supercross will be announced in the near future.

Motocross fans living outside the greater Montreal area yet to make their plans to attend the September 20 Montreal Supercross can still plan big. Those who wish to organize a group of 50 people can contact the Sportsmen in Travel agency at 1 800 267-7678. Taking the driving equation out of the picture, Sportsmen in Travel will take you and your friends by charter bus from a La Cage aux Sports restaurant in your area to the Olympic Stadium. The return fare cost $100 (taxes included) per person with, of course, an admission ticket to the event. The buses arrive in Montreal in the afternoon for a tailgate party that includes snacks and beverages. La Cage aux Sports will also include a $10 gift certificate voucher with this travel package.

The Montréal Supercross, presented by Coors and Parts Canada, is one of Québec's major summer sporting events at the Olympic Stadium with over 50,000 fans coming from all parts of Québec and Eastern Ontario flocking to the site. More than 150 riders from Canada, the USA and Europe are invited each year by the organizers to showcase their riding skills and title ambitions to an audience of young and old, families and friends.
