A celebration of Canadian motocross. That's what the Walton TransCan is often referred to as, and it really is just that. It's really the only time of the year when all of Canada is united at one track, for one thing: racing. Actually, there's quite a bit more to it than just racing; there's the late night campfires that burn far too long, the cold showers that feel the best after a hard moto, the eye candy, the buddies, and the overall good times you wish would never end. Here's a brief recap of what we witnessed from day one of the TransCan.... |

Perfect ... so far. Miami, Manitoba's Ryan Millar holeshot and led every lap of the opening 125 Intermediate moto. The RTR Performance KTM rider was under pressure from Spencer Knowles early in the race and then last year's Bronze Boot winner, Dylan Kaelin, in the final laps, but he held strong and took the win. |

Label It's Brandyn Cowie is a contender for the intermediate championships, but he's got to limit the mistakes if he wants to stay in the hunt. Cowie isn't afraid to give'er, though, and he worked his way from outside the top-10 to fifth by the checkers. His team manager, Brad Coles, isn't racing this week due to broken ribs, but he still looked sharp in his purple D4 Performance tee. |

It's not often that we see Kurtis Ritchie at the races. Probably because he's too busy fighting off polar bears and penguins at his home in Timmins, Ontario. Fortunately, the wild animals let up enough to allow Ritchie to make it down to Walton. He finished fourth in the first 125 Intermediate moto and is another guy capable of bringing home a title. |

The Youth class always guarantees some great racing, thanks to a slew of pros and intermediates. Ohio's Greg Durivage (241) led every lap of the first moto to take the win. Edge Performance Kawasaki's Kyle Stephens (573) kept the American in his sights all moto to finish second. Stephens was a little shaken up from a scary crash at Ste-Julie in May, but is ready to return to the nationals this Sunday at Walton. He's still unsure if he's racing MX1 or MX2. |

Cernic's Cole Thompson looks beau-tee-ful on his CRF150. The little thumper rode away for the victory in the first Supermini moto over Richard Grey. If I looked like Thompson on a bike, I bet I could get Jackie Ross' phone number. |

Little Richard Grey was keeping Thompson honest until his rear tire went flat. If the Orange Motorsports KTM rider doesn't lose any more air, I think we'll see some close racing in the 85cc classes. |

BC's Trae Franklin was smooth and steady, finishing third in Supermini. |
