Equipment Les Chutes Kaven Benoit (our Ignition Racing / RXC Factory Rider for this round last year) was fastest in practice and followed that up with a strong 5-6 and top privateer. Actually, I guess Beaton is a privateer isn't he?!

Thanks to a 1-1 sweep at Sand-Del-Lee, Clearbrook Yamaha's Kyle Beaton went from fourth to second in the championship standings. Royal Distributing Thor Riverside KTM Canada's Eric Nye has a 43 point lead going into the final round so barring disaster, he will wrap up the title in the first moto at Walton. If it weren't for Beaton's big weekend, Nye would have that #1 already. Hats off to Eric Nye. He got into the lead early in the series and has been strong and consistent at every round. Nye's teammate, Ryan Lockhart, deserves some kudos as well for his 2-5 for fourth overall. He actually tied with Nye and Leading Edge Kawasaki's Teddy Maier on points but he was bumped off the podium because they had better second moto results. It was a tough weekend for Suzuki Rockstar OTSFF's Jeremy Medaglia as a mechanical forced a DNF in the first moto while he was running second. He came back swinging in the second moto with a second place finish but his DNF allowed Ryan Lockhart to slip past him in the standings. With Aron Harvey out of the series, Lockhart and Medaglia are battling for fifth overall. RXC's Danny Brault was back in action again this weekend. He qualified and his best finish was 27th in the first moto. Not bad for a sleep deprived editor. His best lap time? 2:24. He really is the Dogger!

Team Toyota Yamaha BlackfootDirect.com Fox Racing's Colton Facciotti has won 13 of the 14 motos he's entered this season.

Lucky I'm not a betting man as I would have put money on a 1-1 for MDK KTM's Nick Wey this weekend. Come on guys, Nick Wey! No doubt Team Toyota Yamaha BlackfootDirect.com Fox Racing's Colton Facciotti was a little nervous going into this round knowing that he had some new competition, and a factory rider no less. Well, nothing seems to shake Colt this year as he picked up exactly where he left off--another 50 points. Despite missing Gopher Dunes with a fractured collarbone he's leading the series by 38 points and can still wrap it up early. Unbelievable! Monster Energy Cernic's Kawasaki's Dusty Klatt is keeping the series alive with his 3-3. Klatt moved into second overall, ahead of Suzuki Rockstar OTSFF's Tyler Medaglia after Medaglia crashed and DNFd the second moto. Tyler was receiving medical attention at the track but we hear that he is okay so stay tuned for updates. Machine Racing's Kyle "The Welder" Keast had a strong ride at SDL, coming from near last to fifth in the first moto and then passing Blair Morgan and Klatt in the second moto for second. Keast gained on Morgan in the standings but it will be tough to make up 10 points in the final round for fourth overall. Ohio's Michael Willard came back this weekend to show off his #11 plate, finishing sixth overall. Check out how many riders in the top 20 are out of the series: Jeff Northrop (injury), Jimmy Nelson (illness), Tim Tremblay (injury), Kevin Urquhart (financial), Brady Sheren (injury), Marco Dube (personal). If my count is correct, there are only about 12 guys who have been at every MX1 round.
