If you are old enough to remember the Coppertone ad to the left, you are old enough to remember that people once thought that exposure to the sun was healthy. This ad even came with the tag-line, "Don't be a paleface." Wow, how times have changed!
 
Last week at Loretta Lynn's, Virtual Trainer was handing out free samples of sunscreen. All the mom's and dad's appreciated the gesture and quickly slathered on the lotion. However, the younger generation was not so eager, saying they didn't need sunscreen since they had a good base tan. Once I explained to them that a "good tan" doesn't make you immune to skin cancer, they were quick to comply. Since motocross athletes and their families spent a great deal of time in the sun, I thought it was time to once again raise awareness on the rising potential of skin cancer.
