Final round of Suzuki Women's National Championships this weekend at Sand Del Lee

This weekend marks the final round of the Suzuki Women's National Championships. The five round series, which started in May at Circuit Ste. Julie in Quebec, has been the domain of KTM Royal Distributing's Jacqueline Ross from the get-go. The Palm Bay, Florida native won Round 1 on the strength of 2-1 motos; she crushed the competition at the following three rounds with clean sweeps!

"I certainly don't think it's been a lack of competition that's put me in the points lead, but I did come to Canada very well prepared and my bike has performed beyond expectations," said Ross. "I'm looking forward to the final round, which hopefully I will wrap up with another victory."

Whether Ross wins at Sand Del Lee this weekend or not is really a mute point at this stage in the championship. With 197 points to her credit, Ross only needs six points to claim the title. Second in the series, Kawasaki mounted Heidi Cooke, has 152 points on the board. Cooke would need to record at least 2-1 moto results to win the title; and that is if for some reason Ross fails to score at all.

Third in the title chase, Suzuki Blackfoot Racing's Jolene Van Vugt, tallies 147 points while Team Suzuki Rockstar Energy OTSFF's Jocelyn Killough sits in fourth with 142 points. To all intents and purposes, it looks like this series will end in a battle for runner-up position between Brookfield, NS's Cooke, London, ON's Van Vugt, and Aylmer, ON's Killough. Calgary, AB's Jessica Foster (Kawasaki), who seals the top five with 128 points, could mathematically still improve on her series finish.
