The Colton Facciotti train is building up momentum fast and the only way to stop it is to … well, I’m not sure how, really, other than tossing a big cinder block onto the tracks. Facciotti now has four perfect weekends after sweeping the MX1 motos in Edmonton, five overalls, and has just moved past Tyler Medaglia for first-place in the series. I apologize for the lateness of this interview, but Chuck Mesley and I were on the road for the last three days, driving from Edmonton to Ontario, and we didn’t have time to stop for internet.
RXC: All right, Colton, I see you’re counting a few bills so things must have gone well this weekend in Edmonton.
Colton Facciotti: Counting my mon’s; like the mon’s; gotta have lots of mon’s! It feels nice in the pocket, especially when they pay you in cash.
I’m sure it does! Your girlfriend, Jocelyn, was telling me that you two picked up a dog, so with that money, you can probably afford to feed him for a year.
Yeah, we got our dog and named him after my nickname, “Yoats.” Dogs are expensive, probably more expensive than babies. Well, I wouldn’t go that far. I don’t want a baby for at least ten years [laughs].
You’re not making things very interesting for us, Colton. I believe that’s your fourth moto sweep of the series.
Yep, that’s four now.
Your teammate, Blair Morgan, was on the gas in the second moto and wasn’t letting you check out. Could you hear the fans going crazy?
Yeah, he was on my back tire a couple of times there. We kind of went back and forth; he would gain a few seconds and then I’d gain a few seconds. It was good with us pushing each other. That’s how it was down in Georgia, practicing and pushing each other.
Are you able to relax a little more when you see Blair or a teammate behind you?
Yeah, well I know Blair isn’t a dirty rider so I don’t have to worry about him cleaning me out or something like that.
What did you think of the Castrol Raceway track?
I think it was great for the first year being here. I think it will get better every year. The track is beautiful, well, a little hard, but I’m sure it will get better when they get more dirt on it next year.
I heard the roost was a little painful.
Yeah, I’d say it’s probably one of the worst rounds, by far. It’s worse than Nanaimo. Nanaimo has more rocks but this was like clumps of dirt coming at you.

Facciotti has been named to Team Canada for the third time in three years. Joining him in England this September are Dusty Klatt and Tyler Medaglia. |
As most of us know, you’ve been named to Team Canada for the Motocross des Nations along with Dusty Klatt and Tyler Medaglia. Tell us about that.
I’m really looking forward to it. I’m on a 450 this year, which is my bike of choice, and I hope I can get top five like I did on the 250 last year. I think I’m fully capable of it anyways.
That race and the whole atmosphere must be a lot to take in as a rider.
I’ve raced in the U.S. before so I don’t really get that nervous on the line or anything. Sure, there are some mind games to do with it but I don’t think about it.
Speaking of the U.S., I recall you telling me at Sand Del Lee that you might be doing an AMA National this year.
I’ve been talking to the guys at Blackfoot and we might try to get my race bike for a weekend and mix it up with the U.S. boys. We’ll see!
I noticed that JSR wasn’t here this weekend.
No, he’s not a very good dad. He had some prior commitments and did a race at home.
Do you miss him?
Yeah, I miss him a lot; he’s like my daddy [laughs].
[Laughs] Thanks, Colt. See you in Moncton!
Thanks.
