KAELIN CAPTURES TWO EASTERN AMATEUR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE GPF AWARD
Richmond, Ontario (July 11, 2008) – Dylan Kaelin was crowned the champion in both the MX1 Intermediate and GP Intermediate classes, during the Eastern Amateur National last week at Sand Del Lee’s MX Park in Richmond, Ontario.
Kaelin, of Grand Bend, Ont., made his return to racing action after recovering from an injury which he suffered during a crash at the Walton TransCan Amateur National Qualifier just four week ago. “I felt great going into last week”, explained Kaelin, “Four weeks was a long time to recover. I have worked very hard to keep my fitness and stamina in check while being off the bike”. Kaelin entered four classes during the week, which were the MX1, MX2 and GP Intermediate classes, as well as the Youth class.
“I enjoyed racing the GP Intermediate races the most, I was able to move in the lead early and set a good pace to win the championship” remarked Kaelin. “The Youth class was my second favorite; it really boosted my confidence racing with guys like Ryan Lockhart, Colton Facciotti and Matt Eastmen. Having a guy like Lockhart on me for 15 plus minutes really helped me step things up. Placing 2nd in the final race and earning 3rd overall was a great way to finish off the week”.
To many spectators Kaelin’s second race in the MX1Intermediate class was one of the week’s favorites to watch. After leading the first lap Kaelin suffered a mechanical issue, stalling and not being able to re-fire his bike. Once Kaelin’s bike ignited, he found himself close to last place. “I managed to put on one of the best charges of my life”, proclaimed Kaelin, as he was able to finish 3rd place, before securing the championship in the final race.
The final class Kaelin entered was the MX2 Intermediate class. “I had some bad starts in the first two races, which didn’t allow me to move into the top five until late in the race. I was happy to remount and finish the class strong, by winning the final race”, stated Kaelin.
At the event awards ceremony Kaelin was presented with the GPF (Georgia Practice Facility) Ironman Award. “I felt great to win the GPF Ironman Award, after racing 4 classes and working on my own bikes all week. I am really looking forward to going to Georgia and training with JSR in the future. I still feel I can go faster and being able to learn and see things through JSR’s Oakleys is a great opportunity for me to continue to improve”.
”I would like to say thanks to everyone who worked at the EANMC all week and the entire MX101 crew. They put on an amazing event for their first time. Somehow with all the rain they still managed to finish on time and have a great track for racing all week. I am already looking forward to returning to Sand Del Lee for the 2009 event”, acknowledged Dylan.
Kaelin now focuses towards the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, which begins in a few weeks.
Dylan would like to thank his family, Red Bull, Pro Taper, Ogio, Motovan, MCR Suspension, The Cobra Shop, Rekluse Clutches, Oakley and D4 Performance for all their support.
