Team Toyota Yamaha BlackfootDirect.com Fox Racing's Aron Harvey finally found the top of the podium, and he did it in convincing style, with a 1-1 sweep. Clearbrook Yamaha's Kyle Beaton put up a good fight in both motos but the Northern Nevada resident earned the win in moto 1 and then cruised to the win in moto 2 after Beaton was forced to retire with bike problems. Royal Distributing Thor Riverside KTM Canada's Eric Nye was consistent once again and now enjoys a whopping 30 point lead in the MX2 championship hunt. Beaton and Jeremy Medaglia, who were tied with Harvey for second overall only two rounds ago have now slipped to 4th and 6th, respectively. Medaglia lost his front brake in the first moto and had to fight back from a poor start in moto 2. Leading Edge Kawasaki's Teddy Maier rebounded after a couple of bad rounds and moved into a tie with Medaglia for 5th overall. And the Kiwi, Mason Philips, has quietly slipped into 3rd overall!

Monster Energy Cernic's Kawasaki's Dusty Klatt won the opening moto in front of his hometown fans. It was his first moto win of the season and he was able to break Facciotti's (and Yamaha's) win streak. He was leading the second moto in the early stages, setting up a great battle for the overall win, but a crash put him well behind the pack. He charged up to 7th, salvaging 4th overall.

Check out that backdrop! Team Toyota Yamaha BlackfootDirect.com's Colton Facciotti had his moto win streak broken but his overall win streak is still intact as his 4-1 moto scores narrowly edged out Royal Distributing Thor Riverside KTM Canada's Jeff Northrop for the win. Northrop was fast in Nanaimo last year as well and his results really picked up after Nanaimo so it will be interesting to see how Norcal's series develops in the second half. MX1 points leader, Tyler Medaglia, had a tough day, and saw his points lead cut to one point heading into a new venue next weekend in Edmonton, Alberta. Some early photos from the track show a flat supercross-style layout which should be good for Medaglia, Facciotti and Klatt as they are all excellent supercross riders. And don't forget Blair Morgan, your 2001 U.S. Open 4-stroke winner!

A view from the top in '06. What a view! Unfortunately we will lose one of the most scenic stops on the circuit as the Nanaimo round has been dropped from the schedule for future years. Many thanks to the Nanaimo Motocross Association and its members for many memorable years. Remember Klatt's MX2 West sweep and his epic battles with JSR in the MX1 class? How about Darcy Lange's wins here? And who could forget Blair Morgan's stuck throttle incident? Yikes! Click here for a local news story from the Nanaimo Daily News.

MX2 Moto 1 notes:
-- Aaron Harvey and Kyle Beaton gapped the field, pulling out a big lead. Shane Weibe ran third for the early stages. Jeremy Medaglia DNFd with bike problems.
MX2 Moto 2 notes:
-- Brock Hoyer holeshot. Beaton and Harvey had a great battle for the lead but Beaton's bike quit at the 1/2 way point. Harvey takes the overall with a 1-1 sweep! Danny Brault says there were nine flat tires in the first MX2 moto. Jeremy Medaglia started about second to last and was only able to make it back to 13th. Tough day for the Medaglia brothers! Eric Nye continues his consistent season with second overall.
MX1 Moto 1 notes:
-- Klatt won by about 15 seconds and was cruising. Facciotti fell but made it back up to fourth. The points chase is heating up as Medaglia's lead should be cut down to eights points over Klatt (-8) and Facciotti (-10).
MX1 Moto 2 notes:
-- Homans almost had the holeshot but slid out. Klatt got into the lead early but crashed around the end of the first lap and was way behind the pack. Great ride for him to get back up to 7th. Excellent ride for Northrop who was strong here last year as well. Those California guys like the hard pack! Medaglia was in second for the early stages and was under a lot of pressure from Northrop, Morgan and Gibson, eventually dropping to fifth. Facciotti takes the overall with a 4-1, edging out Northrop (3-2) by one point. Medaglia (194) still retains the points lead by one point over Facciotti (193) while Klatt is third with 184.
Next weekend we move to a new venue in Edmonton, Alberta.
