With championship excitement in the air, Grunthal Centennial Raceway played host to the final round of MMA Spring Provincial Championship series brought to you by Royal Distributing. After a series of late running races, the staff and volunteers of the MMA arrived at GCR with a new focus on timekeeping to see a full raceday completed in a timely fashion. |

Right out of the gate, staying on time was challenged when a rider got out of control on the face of the finish line and launched himself, bike and all into the flagging tower. The impact sent the tower, referee and flagger tumbling. Thankfully, although banged up, all involved appeared to escape with minor injuries. |

Leading our list of folks who earned multiple titles is Garrett Graboweski. The KTM rider earned Spring Provincial Championships in both the MX-1 and MX-3 Junior classes, as well as a promotion to the Intermediate classes for the fall series. |

While he’s the father of two pretty fast riders, it was Ken Klassen who brought a pair of titles into the Klassen home this spring. Klassen wrapped up the Vet Junior and 40+ B class titles at GCR. |

Transcanada Motorsports Josh Penner found himself in the middle of one of the closest championship battles entering the day with a one point lead in the Youth class over the Westside Honda of Eddie Anderson. Penner pounded out the title with a convincing 1-1 day. Penner also picked up the MX-1 Pro class championship ahead of the Westside Honda’s of Adam Pfeiffer and Anderson. |

Rio Stoesz had a firm grip on the Supermini title entering the final day and salted it away with a 2-2 day. The more exciting close to a title came in the 85cc 12-16 class where his victory in the main helped him overcome a fifteen point deficit to grab the title by three points over Richmond Morin |

Renold Sawatsky arrived at GCR second in points in the 40+ and Vet Master classes. Sawatsky left GCR with a pair of Spring Provincial Championships including an exciting second moto in the 40+ class where his second place finish gave him the title by two points over Scott Harland’s fourth place ride. |

Jordan Devloo dominated the competition on his way to titles in the 65cc 10-11 and 85cc 7-11 classes. Devloo regularly won motos by Carmichael like margins even though he was giving up 20cc’s in the 85cc class. |

With the Ladies class title secured, Bev Bryce-Leger opted to vacation rather than ride the finale at GCR. |

Aaron Pfrimmer came under fire in the MX-2 Pro class final race. The gregscustom.com rider saw his points lead reduced to five by Adam Pfeiffer after the first moto. Pfrimmer buckled down with a strong ride in moto two for the win and the title. Pfeiffer and the Formula Suzuki of Earl Reimer round out the series podium. |

Everett Peters survived an uncharacteristic off day in the MX-2 Junior class and emerged with the title. His margin of victory was three points over his brother Cody, who missed the final round while on a mission trip, and a hard charging Derek Anseeuw. |

An injury in the final moto may have dampened Stefani Blaquiere’s day, but let’s hope a Provincial Championship in the Little Ladies class will brighten it back up! |

Johnnie Unrau (998) was looking forward to fighting tooth and nail for the 25+ class title with Corey Parent. Unfortunately a first moto crash in the MX-2 Pro class ended Parent’s day. Unrau and Luke Macfadden traded moto wins on the day with Unrau getting the title. |

Likely the most impressive story of the Spring Provincial Championship is Josh Pfrimmer. In his first season on a big bike, Pfrimmer went straight to the MX-2 Intermediate class and instantly turned heads, keeping class favorite Ryan Millar honest on several occasions. Pfrimmer took home the Championship ahead of Stuart Brincheski and Jeremy Breemersch. |
