JUNE 26, 2008
We arrived in Regina at midnight Friday. Ray and Joyce Millar had already parked the RTR Performance trailer with the KTM Semi. The practice on Saturday was super slippery and dry. Our Pirelli mid-soft tires proved to be good but we decided with the ruts forming that the mid hard tire would be the way to go. Sunday qualifying was good with the 64 of Foster and the 501 of Millar making it in with ease.
The start of the first moto was okay, with Foster putting that RTR Performance bike in 12th off the drop. Millar was not to be dealt the same cards. He was caught in a first turn pinch where he kept his bike up but lost all momentum. After getting through the mess he managed to start working his way up in positions really working that bike to get up front. After coming around a corner and off a huge step down, he collided with another rider, hitting the ground hard and taking the wind out of his sales. Ryan managed to pick himself back up and finished the race.
Foster would go on to take a hard earned 9th place at the checkered flag. The next moto would have Millar running a little off the pace, still feeling the effects of his crash but Foster taking off with the lead of the pack right away, really putting in a solid ride. Kris rode consistent and hard to pull a 7th place finish which is the best he has placed ever in the Canadian National Series. Kirk Haws had a decent weekend in the Amateur races on Saturday but was within seconds of making it into the MX2 Pro race on Sunday.
At the end of the day the RTR performance riders were all positive and ready for another round to go out there and represent our sponsors in a positive and professional manner. The RTR Performance Canadian National race team is now on a 2 week break before the next round in Nanaimo, BC. The riders will be riding and testing throughout the break. Ryan Millar will be heading over to Raymond Alberta to contest the Canadian Amateur Nationals and then will carry on to Kamloops to do some riding and testing with the rest of the team. RTR Performance would like to congratulate Kris Foster on his best ever finish this weekend, a great birthday present for his 20th birthday. Happy Birthday Kris!
