The Manitoba Motocross Association kicked off its Motovan Spring Provincial Championship at Melita’s Sandy Oaks Raceway. The sub zero overnight temperatures, combined with the thin blanket of fresh snow had many racers wondering exactly where the “Spring” was on this day. |

Sand specialist Earl “Scrap Iron” Reimer helps his main sponsor make their MMA debut a winning one. Reimer, backed by the new Formula Suzuki Supercentre, took both motos and the overall in the MX2 Pro Class. |

Déjà vu all over again? D.J. Burmey picked up right where he left off last fall, which was winning 50cc races. Burmey took the 50cc 7-8 class, winning both motos. |

Jordan Devloo went three for four on the day in moto wins and, in the process, captured the 85cc 7–11 and 65cc A classes. |

The MX2 Beginner class saw Shea Marchuk win both motos. |

The ATV classes made a return to Melita this Spring. Jordan Harms (84) captured the Beginner class while Daryl Toews took top honours in the Pro class. |

Josh Draper grabbed the overall in the Youth B class with a 1–3 day. Brenden Mitchell, with a 4–1 ride, and Everett Peters 2–4 finishes completed the podium. |

Blaine Goforth was four for four on the day to secure the Vet Junior and MX1 Junior class overalls. |

Being in shape to battle the tiring sand is no problem when you own Frederickson Performance Centre. Jim Frederickson ran roughshod over the Vet Master class as well as posting a fourth place finish in the MX1 Pro class. |

After being largely MIA last season, Lance Fast returned to the MX2 Junior class at Melita. Fast put in an impressive 2-1 race to grab the overall ahead of Brenden Mitchell. |

The 85cc 12-16 class is going to be one to watch this season with plenty of fast talent. Richmond Morin came to the top of that list on this day. |

Chris Plett faces some fast new faces in the MX1 Intermediate class in 2008. Plett made sure to stake his claim to the class early with a 1-1 day in Melita. |

|
The MX3 Junior class saw a hotly contested battle between Dylan Mollot (47) and the screaming 125 of Nathan Regier. Mollot came out on top on this day when his 3-2 day topped Regier’s 2-3 finishes. |

|
May 28th 2006 was the last time Bev Bryce-Legier lost a moto at Melita and that stat did not change this weekend. |

Jacob Gnidziejko picked up the win in the 65cc B class. |

|

|
After missing large portions of the last two seasons while contesting the CMRC Nationals, Josh Penner has returned to the MMA in 2008. Penner’s 2-1 day gave him the overall in the MX1 Pro class ahead of the 1-2 ride of his Transcanada Motor Sports' teammate Brady Breemersch. |

Ryan Millar had the Melita fans smiling with his wide open style. Millar took the overall in the MX2 Intermediate class. |
