APRIL 30, 2008
FXR is proud to announce the signing of Washington’s Kevin Urquhart for the 2008 Canadian Nationals. He will be competing in the MX1 class aboard a CR450F.
The 20-year old finished sixth overall in the MX2 class in the 2007 CMRC Canadian Nationals, with a third place podium finish at Regina.
Kevin was having a successful SX Season until a mishap in Phoenix left him with a broken femur. He has made a full recovery and has been training is Southern California. “I’m really stoked for this season. I had a lot of fun last year racing in Canada, It’s a mellow environment and everyone is very nice.”
The FXR Race Team will also include Drew Clegg, Milo Christie and Julian Cerny; who will all be riding the MX1 class along with Ami Houde who will be riding the Women’s Nationals. “It’s going to be a fun year. What makes our team distinctive is the passion these boys bring to their racing.” –Aaron Wiebe, Team Manager.
Julian Cerny, a life time racer and true vet master is still capable of running in the top ten. Unfortunately Julian will only be able to make it to selected events this season, as he will soon be adding a new member to the Cerny family.
After a great 2006 season, Milo Christie started out strong in 07’ with a top 10 finish at Gopher Dunes- arguably one of the toughest tracks in Canada. An injury sidelined Milo for the remainder of the year and he is back with something to prove.
Drew Clegg rode as the top privateer at several rounds last year and finished up his season as the Alberta provincial champ. He has been training hard down in California and plans to make an impact in the MX1 class.
Ami Houde, who is the FXR Assistant Team Manager, made her first appearance in the Canadian Women’s Nationals in 07 with a 3rd place finish at Calgary and has recently finished 5th place at the WMA Cup in Floresville, TX. “I’m getting my first taste of how much work it takes to put a team together along with getting myself prepared for the Nationals. Luckily I have such a great group of riders and partners to work with. This will be a good year for FXR.”
