Team Suzuki Captures Second Overall

--press release--

After months of preparation the first event brought out all the top Factory Teams and the Yellow Hornets on their Suzuki RM-Z’s were ready for the challenge.

Saturday’s qualifying went well for MX1 Team Suzuki/OTSFF Motorsports riders Mike Treadwell, Keith Johnson, and Gavin Gracyk. MX 2 rider Bruce Prochnavy qualified but Jake Weimer had to get adjusted to Canada and went into the Last Chance Qualifier which he dominated and won by 30 seconds over 2nd place.

So the Team was all set for the big Sunday show. So was Mother Nature. The heavens opened up and stayed with the teams all day long, making for a very muddy day. In MX 2 Team Suzuki put Bruce Prochnavy into the points with a 25th and 15th finish in the 2 motos. Jake Weimer, on the other hand struggled through Moto 1 but came back with a strong 5th place in the second one.

Next up the premiere MX1 class. Iron Mike Treadwell mounts his faithful RM-Z450 and comes out with an 11-9 to put him in 11th overall. Gavin Gracyic finished with a 7th in his first moto and in the second moto win 11th to give him a respectable 9th overall...

Keith Johnson hammers out of the hole with his Suzuki RM-Z450 as the rain continues to fall. The track looks more like a mud bog pit than a National Moto X track. Keith lead for more than half of the race and ended up in 6th place in Moto one.

The final Moto of the day was the one to watch. When the five second board falls, the roar of the massive 4 stroke hammers out of the hole (the sound is awesome) and the rooster tail of mud was flying through the air. KJ goes into corner one and comes out clean in 5th place. As the race went on Keith moved into the lead and with 10 minutes to go was caught by JSR. He closed out the first round of the Canadian Moto MX1 with a solid second overall. Congratulations to Keith Johnson of Team Suzuki/OTSFF’s Motorsports.
