Our goal, from day one, has been to give Canadian racers the exposure they deserve and bring the sport in Canada to a new level. For 2007, we have created the Racer X Canada Factory Rider for a Day program, which gives a different up-and-coming racer a chance to experience a factory-like experience with all of the exposure and attention the boys in the big rigs normally receive. There is no way we could get this project off the ground without the support of our sponsors and supporters. Ignition Racing, who is best known for developing their noise reducing dB dawg, has signed on as the title sponsor, and Maxima Oils, Dunlop tires, Pro Wheel, Ride Industries, Universal/TCI, Lime 9 MX, Destroyer Films, and Ogio have made sure our team will be using the best products in the industry each weekend.

With Brett Dailey still firmly planted behind the wheel of the funmover, the Ignition Racing/Racer X Canada Factory Rider for a Day program is rolling on across the country. With stops in Morden, Manitoba and Regina, Saskatchewan, we added three new riders to the RXC team: Ryan Millar in Morden, Kyle Murphy in Saskatchewan and Josh Penner joined us for both the Morden and Regina rounds. Here's a look at what's been happening under the factory tent for the last few weekends.

Josh Penner was part of the team in Morden, but his
weekend got off to a rocky start when he crashed his 450 while wearing
the helmet cam for TV. It was a hard get off for Penner. He didn't
qualify for the MX2 class in Morden after the crash and decided to join
the crew again in Regina, looking for redemption. |

Penner had a new plan in Regina ... and it worked. He posted the 12th fastest MX1 time in Saturday's practice and went on to qualify easily for both the MX1 and MX2 classes on Sunday. |

After spending the week training and riding with Ontario pros Kyle Keast and Pierce Chamberlain, Penner was feeling strong in Regina. He slid out on an over-watered jump face in the first MX2 moto and lost his brake lever, forcing him to DNF the moto. Feeling better on his 450, Penner decided to focus on that class instead, and work on earning points for his '08 national number. Penner went 20-21 for 23rd overall. |
