Ford Field has to be one of the nicest stadiums on the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross tour. Unfortunately, in its two years on the schedule, fan attendance has yet to reach that of the prior races at the Pontiac Silverdome. It didn't help that a Red Wings, Tigers and Pistons game were all taking place on Saturday as well.

The track layout was a little different than what we've seen so far in the series. It was fast, but lap times were still around the 58-second mark.

The Contenders: Ryan Morais (points leader heading into Detroit), Darcy Lange and Ben Townley were interviewed in the opening ceremonies.

Morais and Townley battled hard in their qualifier, with Townley finishing third and Morais in fourth. Lange won the heat race over Kelly Smith.

Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey led wire to wire in the main event, capturing his third career AMA SX win. Morais stalled it on the second lap and finished fifth, ultimately costing him the championship.

After a brilliant heat race ride, it looked like Lange was the favourite heading into the 15-lap main event. Unfortunately, he suffered a terrible start in the main and was unable to charge through the pack. He finished tenth and third overall in the series.

Your 2007 Eastern Region Lites champion, Ben Townley.

Tucker Hibbert finished 13th in the Lites main event. We'll be seeing more of the 2007 X-Games Snocross champ when he lines up for the MX2 West series in Canada.

Doug DeHaan nearly pulled the holeshot in the Supercross LCQ. After David Vuillemin and Robbie Reynard passed him, it looked like the BTO Sports/ Butler Brothers Honda rider had the Racer X Gas Card, but Kevin Johnson passed him in late in the race. DeHaan says he may be racing the Auburn Hills Ontario Provincial in three weeks.

Here's another guy we'll be seeing more of shortly. Josh Woods could only muster a tenth in the LCQ. After he finishes up his SX deal, Woods will join the Suzuki OTSFF crew for the MX1 Canadian Nationals.

Chad Reed was never a real contender for the win all night. He didn't have a great jump off the gate in the 450 main and, for 15 laps, it looked like Tim Ferry (15) was going to finish second behind James Stewart.

The fans could barely contain themselves when Stewart took his 11th win of the series.
