New and improved for ‘06, today’s CELL Knee Protection System offers many updated features and one very important new one: the buckles have been revised and are far easier to use for quick release. The patella cup has been updated with dual layer padding and better knee cap coverage. The more notable changes are the Uni-Quad Fastener™ and the Anti-Rotation Tether™. The Cell’s lace up system has been redesigned as a one piece unit broken up into four zones. The four lacing zones offer better fine tuning control than the previous model. The “hyper-x” pattern that connects these zones helps control backing out of the brace, or “hyper-extending” the knee considerably.
The newest feature of the CELL is the Anti-Rotation Tether™. Quite possibly the best feature on any knee protective devise ever, this very simple, yet effective Anti-Rotation attachment is an adjustable link between the CELL and your boot. Linking the brace to the boot essentially makes them one. This is crucial to transferring and diminishing the forces of a lower leg rotation, including the ankle, from your toe edge, through the medial side of the frame, and back across into the upper cuff of the brace. Research suggests that the most common cause of ACL rupture is a traumatic force being applied to the knee in a twisting movement. The Anti-Rotation tether feature of the CELL is the most effective defense against lower leg rotation.
