SixSixOne Saturday Photo Report from Morden

The Morden track lived up to all the anticipation Saturday. High speed with plenty of places to pass, Sunday should be sweet. Here are a few pics from Saturday's action.

The high-speed Morden track suits Dusty Klatt’s style. He’ll be hoping to stretch his winning streak to 10 motos here.

JSR looks very focused here in Morden. He held off Colton Faccioitt in his qualifier, picking up a qualifier win and posting the fastest MX1 lap of the day.

Jeremy Israel put in his strongest ride of the season so far, making some key passes and finishing second in his MX1 qualifier.

With teammate Darcy Lange out of the running, Colton Facciotti is the team's top MX1 hope. After his podium finish in Regina, Facciotti will be hoping to keep the momentum going.

The MX2 class leaves the (slightly dusty) line. Out front early are Kevin Johnson (32), Brock Hoyer (145) and Dustin Hayes (59).

Nelson won his qualifier easily and heads to Sunday’s big day looking quick and ready. In his third season in Canada, Nelson looks to have a clear shot at the MX2 West title.

Blair Morgan battled with Michael Willard in the second MX1 qualifier, making an insane last corner, last lap pass to finish third. With Lange and Gracyk out of the mix, the race for third place is on and every point, including those earned in qualifiers, is critical.

It’s a huge disappointment to see Gavin Gracyk out again. Gracyk was just getting up to speed, picking up his first podium in Regina, and looked strong and fast in Saturday’s practice. A nasty crash saw him aggravate an existing shoulder injury, leaving him on the sidelines with torn ligaments. Heal up quick, Gavin.

Teddy Maier posted the fastest MX2 lap time of the day and led his qualifier wire to wire. Maier and teammate Gray Davenport are neck and neck for second place in the series.

After busting out some serious speed in Regina last weekend, Kyle Beaton looks determined to land on the podium in Morden. Beaton is racing both the MX2 and MX1 classes this weekend, as he prepares to finish out the Moncton, Sand-Del-Lee and Walton rounds on his 450.

Morgan Racing’s Kevin Johnson finished second in his qualifier behind Jimmy Nelson and ahead of Gray Davenport.

Local boy Josh Penner knows his way around the Morden track. Penner was all smiles after finishing sixth in his qualifier despite nursing a bruised lung and some very sore ribs.

See you at the races...
