Happy Canada Day from Raymond, Alberta!

After falling down in the second corner, Jessica Foster charged through the Ladies pack to finish sixth. Malerie Prochnavy and Missy Hackett again battled for the lead for nearly the whole moto, and again, Prochnavy came out on top. Notice the good looking guy in the backround in the orange t-shirt? That's assistant editor Danny Brault throwing down some water. He isn't usually so helpful, but since his starts have left him battling through the dust and the tough western intermediate pack, he thought it would be good idea to improve the visibilty.

Anarchy Ride Shop's Ryan Ramsey and his race team made it out to Raymond. Ramsey finished inside the top-10 in the 250 Intermediate class yesterday, but today didn't go so well for him--his teammate ran over his head! Don't worry, he's okay and he didn't scratch his TLD lid.

Darion Poisson was leading the 65cc moto until this happend....

The crowd at Raymond has been a little sparse, but those in attendance have witnessed some great racing featuring the fastest racers in the west ... and a few from the east.

Drew Clegg was leading both the Youth and GP Pro motos today, but bad luck prevented him from stealing a win from Kyle Beaton. In the Youth race, Clegg got together with Beaton in a corner and went down. Then in the Pro class, it looked like he had the win locked up after Beaton fell in the second corner and had to work his way through the pack. However, the Honda rider couldn't handle the pressure when Beaton close in on him in the later stages and Clegg went down on the uphill sweeper.

The GP Intermediate class blasts off the line.

STAR OF RAYMOND, SO FAR: Local star Luke Firth has been riding the wheels off of his YZ125 --yes a two-stroke--this week at Raymond. Yesterday Firth played second fiddle to Shane Wiebe, but today he stole the wins in the 125 and GP Intermediate classes.

Promoter of the Raymond Amateur National, Jerry Nelson (left), has been happy with the show over the last two days.

Hillsburgh, Ontario's Steven Anderson made the trip along with his father Steve to Raymond. The Anderson duo have now made the journey to the WCAN four times. Anderson has represented Ontario well, keeping pace with the top five in the 65cc 7-11 class aboard his Tonelli Motorsports tuned KTM 65.

Announcer Mike has been entertaining the Raymond crowd with his witty humour. For example: if Mike doesn't know the rider's name, he simply refers to them as "Bubba-gaw-newsh." Mike's a true iron-man and has braved the hot Alberta sun from atop the water tower for two days now--sans umbrella!

PICK A LANE: A unique feature on the Raymond track is the two-lane corner in the back section, although not too many riders choose the right lane. The track was left rough from Tuesday, and by the end of today, the entire track was littered with kickers, sharp-edged braking bumps and deep ruts.

PLAY TIME: Jerry Nelson prides the Raymond event on having riders ride. Throughout the day, riders are allowed to practice on three small mini-tracks and this freestyle ramp.
