MARCH 9, 2006
By Brett Dailey
It's been quite a rollercoaster week for us at the Racer X Canada office. It all kicked off last Friday morning when we got a call from Blackfoot Racing that their bikes had been stolen in Indianapolis. We did our best to get the news out and to spread it around to other industry websites. The team pulled together and built a bike for Dusty Klatt from spare and borrowed parts and also built a bike for Mitch Cooke--thanks to Team BooKoo--and got both riders to the line for Indy. (We received some good news by mid-week that they had recovered Mitch Cooke's bike already and had a lead on Dusty Klatt's bike.)
We had five Canadian riders to watch last weekend and my brother Tim was there with a photo pass to capture all of the action. As you can see from the times below, everyone was riding well in Indianapolis but a combination of events had them all sitting on the sidelines for the main events! The 2006 Supercross season has definitely featured the best racing in a while but it's ten times better when we have a few Canadians to cheer for in the mains.
Since we had five Canadians racing the Eastern series, we decided to run an interview with one rider each day this week. Dusty Klatt was even featured on the Racer X website. Each interview is excellent and, as you can see from their comments, they all just need a break tonight to show their true capability on a supercross track. We are really pulling for Mitch Cooke and the Blackfoot crew after his honest and emotional interview. Oh, and Marco Dube is re-joining the series this weekend but will switch to the SX class on a KTM450. Now we have six Canadians to cheer for this weekend!

A few injuries rocked the motocross community this week. The worst being a neck injury to Ernesto Fonseca. Closer to home, Billy Mullen was also injured while training in Florida. Get well soon guys!
As luck would have it, Daytona runs on Friday night so we can already leave last week behind us and turn our attention to Daytona and hope for some positive results and exciting racing. AMA's @theWire LIVE! should start at 12:30 ET with practice times so, if you can, leave you browser open and see how our Canadians are adapting to the Daytona track. Here are links for the schedule and results.

Speed TV will air the Daytona Supercross tonight (almost live) starting at 9:30PM ET. It's a three hour program.
Down in Texas, we have 12 top Canadians competing in the Lake Whitney Spring Classic. Highlights so far have been Richard Grey (3rd in his 65cc 10-11 Stock heat and 2nd in his 65cc 7-11 Open heat) and Dean Wilson (3rd in his Supermini 12-15 heat). Click here for a list of riders and links to their individual resuts.

Ontario's Steve Beattie passes Travis Pastrana in flat track action.
