With the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series heading east to St. Louis this weekend, it will be a new beginning of sorts for several Canadians racers. Dusty Klatt, Mitchell Cooke, and Brady Sheren will all make their AMA Lites debut at the Edward Jones Dome.
Knowing that this event would be a big one for Canadians, I decided that watching the race on TV just wouldn’t be enough for me and I made plans with Danny Brault of
RXC to watch the race unfold live.

Sheren, who had plans on racing the Western Lites series, was forced to take some time off due to a bout with mono. Klatt and Cooke, who have both been honing their supercross skills in Georgia for the past several months, feel they are well prepared and Klatt says, “We’re ready to go!” They will be accompanied this weekend by Jean- Sebastien Roy, who will be giving his teammates support and advice throughout their first AMA supercross race.

Richmond Racing Team Green Kawasaki riders’ Kyle Chisholm and Donnie McGourty earned a ride with the team following their success in the Canadian MX2 East Series and will be battling with Cooke, Klatt and Sheren in the Lites series. This will also be Chisholm’s first AMA supercross. McGourty, who has been flying under the radar since his departure from last year’s MX2 East series, will be contesting his second season in the East series. After not qualifying at last year’s round in St. Louis, he went on to score an eighth place finish the next weekend at Daytona.

Moving on to Canada’s Supercross riders, Doug DeHaan and Ryan Lockhart are both in St. Louis. DeHaan qualified for the muddy Supercross main event at San Francisco and finished 15th, but he’s capable of bettering that finish this weekend in the state of Missouri on a dry track.

After thinking that our 11-hour road trip from Ontario was quite a hike, we spoke with Ryan who just finished a 30 hour drive by himself in Rick Sheren’s Fun Mover. I can’t think of any other rider who has spent more time than this guy in a vehicle to make it to the races each weekend. Lockhart says even though he has yet to make a main event, he is satisfied with his riding and just needs to get the breaks to make into the show.

Davi Millsaps has to be the favourite for the win in the Lites class.

Who will it be this weekend? RC or Stewart?

The 2006 Dealer Expo kicked off today in Indianapolis at the RCA dome and RXC’s Jason T. Griffiths, Brett Dailey, Jay Moore, Dan O’Shea, and Rob McCullough all made the trip to Indy to help out at the Racer X booth (which is booth #1340).  The crew at Racer X Canada is also preparing for the Canada vs. USA hockey Tournament that will be taking place Saturday and Sunday night. We’re expecting big wins from the Canadian squad, which Danny and I will join for Sunday’s game. And speaking of hockey, the Men and Women’s Olympic teams have been on a roll. Giver Team Canada!

Be sure to report back to racerxcanada.com throughout the weekend to view updates from our Canadian supercross stars. As always, the St. Louis round can be listened to live on SupercrossLIVE! at www.supercross.cc.com and you can watch the Supercross class action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
