A2 Photo Report

Report and photos by Allison Kennedy

It was another unreal Supercross main event with Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart battling it out to the last lap. A patient Carmichael waited for Stewart to slip up and slipped by for the win, his second in a row. Stewart's front end washed out while trying to avoid a fallen Mike Brown. Stewart's mistake let Chad Reed slip by for second place. An emotional Stewart quickly composed himself on the podium, giving RC credit for a great ride.  The Lites class was another in a series of great races in the west. Grant Langston picked up his highly anticipated first win of the season, Andrew Short hung on for second, while Nate Ramsey was third.

Does anyone love to win as much as RC?

Does anyone hate to lose as much as Stewart?

Anaheim fans were treated to another epic RC/Stewart battle.

Grant Langston picked up his first Lites win of the season.

Mike Alessi lead the Lites main early and somehow saved himself from this first-lap bobble in the whoops.

David Vuillemin picked up the holeshot on his new 450 with some help from Canadian mechanic JP Savard.

After a pair of strong performances in the Lites western series, Darcy Lange saw his day end early at Anaheim 2. Lange went down hard in practice, knocking himself out and suffering a concussion that left him on the sidelines. Obviously disappointed, Lange will see a doctor this week to find out how long he'll have to wait to get back in the action.

After missing the night program last week, Marco Dube made his first main event in the Lites class. Dube rode a smart, solid race and finished 17th. With plans to race the entire West region, Dube will, no doubt, keep improving. Congrats Marco.

Colton Facciotti and mechanic-for-a-day Andy Wilson on the line for the LCQ. While Facciotti has yet to make a main, he's been mighty close. Hopefully, his patience and determination will pay off in the next few rounds.

#286 Ryan Lockhart and #90 Doug DeHaan during Supercross qualifiers.

Ryan Lockhart has been both optimistic and realistic in setting goals for
the SX series. His first goal was just to make the night program, his second is to make the main. He missed the main at A2, but learned that he'll be riding the whole series with fellow Canadian Brady Sheren, giving him more time to hone his SX skills.

"I'm so over this place," said DeHaan about his Anaheim 2 night.
DeHaan has been happy with his riding, and feels he's on the verge of making the main, but it didn't happen Saturday night. DeHaan was in
qualifying position when he was run off the track in his semi. A poor start in the LCQ cost him a spot in the main.
