Vancouver BC, Canada -. Round 2 of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP was held Saturday Dec 10. and Nova Scotia rider Ryan Lockhart had decided to not drive the 10,000 plus kilometers across the county and back. When word of this hit the cyberspace media, support started to roll in, and a deal was put together to get Ryan on the line for one of the biggest races in the country. Special thanks needs to go out to Holeshot Racing, Boo Green, “Hammertime” and Steve Anderson… mxforum.com’s CUZN IT.
After putting his mechanic to the test, installing a borrowed motor and his Pro-Action suspension into the bike he would use for the week-end, Ryan took to the track and felt very comfortable and looked forward to the weekend of racing.
Newf was seeded in the first qualifier along with Short, Hansen, Weimer, Sipes and the fastest Canadians at the event. Ryan managed to ride strong and finish with an eight place that would transfer him directly to the main. However, for this race, the officials decided to only take the top seven positions and send the rest of the field to the LCQ. The Lites LCQ would now transfer eight riders to the main, with Ryan securing his spot with a third place finish.
The main event did not go as planned for the RMZ250 rider. Ryan uncharacteristically fell not once, but twice on the opening lap. This caused his clutch perch to bend and limit the movement of the lever. A stop in the mechanics area to rectify the problem had Ryan a lap down and out of contention. He charged hard and picked off a few positions only to be caught and passed by the leaders again. At the checkers, he crossed the line in sixteenth position.
Ryan is now back in Springhill, taking some much needed time off to spend the holidays with his family. With his truck having a weekend off, Ryan plans on giving it another workout, heading for sunny California in the new year. Looking at the big picture, and planning ahead for summer, Ryan is planning on taking Suzuki’s big thumper, the RMZ450 to SOCAL and getting some seat time with his buddy Sean Hamblin and hitting up some AMA supercross races in the premier class. Look for his name at Phoenix.
Ryan would like to take this time to thank his sponsors, OTSFF, TWO WHEEL Motorsports, PRO-ACTION Suspension, SHOT MX gear, Pirelli tires, SPY optics, Gaerne boots, SixSixOne, sunline, OGIO, CTI2, TSS Graphics, Orthoflex, M2R helmets.
Seasons Greetings and Happy Holiday’s to all
