DECEMBER 3, 2005

No one is more disappointed that Dusty Klatt is on
the sidelines this weekend then the Campbell River native himself. The
Toronto round of the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross started on a sour
note for Canadian fans. After busting his butt at the Georgia Practice
Facility with the Blackfoot Honda team, Klatt took himself out of the
game after only three laps of practice. Klatt crashed and free-fell to
the concrete, taking the impact with his shoulder. He went out for the
second practice, but pulled off after only one lap and headed to the
hospital to get checked out. After spending countless hours in the
Toronto emerg, Klatt decided to wait and see a doctor later for an
official diagnosis. Klatt and the team remain hopeful that he'll be
able to ride the Vancouver round. On a slightly higher note, Klatt was
presented with two Red Bull helmets, that he'll be wearing for the
upcoming SX season. Keep your fingers crossed that his injury isn't
serious and that we'll see him on the line in Vancouver.
The rest of the Canadian contingent made out fine in
Friday's practice. The feedback from the riders seemed to be that the
dirt is quite loose and is rutting up pretty quickly. Track workers
were doing some substantial watering Friday night so we'll have to see
how that affects things. Doug DeHaan was looking comfortable on his
Butler Brothers Honda in the Supercross class. Marco Dube said things
were feeling pretty good though he knows he'll have to conquer some of
the tracks tougher combinations to hang with the rest of the pack this
weekend. Blackfoot's Mitchell Cooke looked strong, flying somewhat
under the radar after Klatt's crash.
OTSFF Suzuki's Ryan Lockhart, fresh from his
Breakfast TV spotlight on Thursday, says he likely won't make the trek
to Vancouver next weekend afterall. Lockhart, who has been
criss-crossing the country this fall racing in the Future West AX
series and hit a US AX in Colorado recently, says another drive to
Vancouver might just put him over the edge...If anyone has any Air
Miles they want to donate to Newf, there is no one more deserving right
now. Speaking of road trips, Racer X Canada assistant editor
Danny Brault will be joining Ontario's Jay Burke in a cross-country
mission to Vancouver. The pair leave Sunday as Burke chases the SX
series...should make for a few interesting stories.

Fans are once again pumped to see RC back in Toronto. They lined the
track entrance every time he entered and exited the track for practice.
RC's butt patch has a Canadian maple leaf.
A new number and a New Beginning? James Stewart's
Fox pants speak of his high hopes for the '05 SX season.
Tyler Medaglia and Kevin Tyler discuss lines during Friday's practice.
After a relatively disappointing Canadian turn-out last December, more
Canadian riders have stepped up to race with the world's best this year.
Kudos and good luck to all of them.
See you at the races...
