NOVEMBER 30, 2005
Ever since I started my new unpaid position at Racer X Canada I have been a busy little beaver. Around the office, I have swept the floor, cleaned the bathroom (would someone please light a match) and organized piles of magazines. I had to wash Jolene Van Vugt’s car and I overheard her say something about a Brazilian wax. If it’s from Brazil, it must be expensive and maybe she hid it because I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. Oh well, maybe next time. Danny Brault tried to tell me that it was my job to give him his weekly massage … he almost got me too … then I realized that’s why they hired Jay Moore! That Danny, always a jokester!
Finally Jason Griffiths called me into his top floor, corner office and sat me down. I figured I was fired because when I was baby sitting his kids I took them out to the mall for ice cream and kind of left them there. He said it was irresponsible, I told him I was just delegating. Mall security did a fine job of watching them! But low and behold, he told me it was time for my first big assignment: interview Miss Supercross, Brittney George. I thought it was some sort of a joke and calmly awaited the punch line. He slid a piece of paper to me containing her name and a phone number. Once again the rules were laid down. They were as follows: 1) keep it to 800 words, and 2) be politically correct and polite. Is anyone else seeing a trend here?

Here is the lovely Brittney George. Kuli says that he wasn't nervous. He now has one strike on his personnel record for lying. |

The next big dilemma was what to ask her in the interview. I figured that would be easy, I would put a post on MX Forum and have people email me with questions for Brittney! Brilliant, right? Well, not exactly. Within 15 minutes I had these two replies:
Dearest Brittney,
When you race do you wear a thong or bikini briefs? I’m currently running the bikini briefs. Regardless of how badly I ride, the silk and lace always makes me feel so sexy! But I wondered if the streamline thong might help with my overall speed. Can you offer any comments or suggestions?
Cherishing your response,
S. Donkersgoed, Ontario
Hi Mc Brittney,
Have you ever had any strange attraction to Ronald McDonald? And if you have, what was happening in your last fantasy involving him?
Happy meals forever!
M. McGuinness, Ontario
Okay, so on to plan B. I would use some of my “Grade 11 book learning” and write the questions myself! A pre-interview phone call was made to “set up” the actual interview. That’s how us professional journalist types do things, you know. But I did have my mom make the call so it sounded like I had a secretary. The time was arranged and the plan was working perfectly. I called exactly two minutes late just so I didn’t look too eager and spent the next hour talking with Brittney.
She talks almost as much as I do … and that’s an accomplishment in itself. Brittney was polite, sweet and very modest about her newfound fame and stunning good looks. Always the diplomat, I felt the need to educate her on some pure Canadian culture. First, she now knows that a beanie is something you wear at a Jewish wedding and a toque is something you wear in the winter to keep your head warm. Second, poutine is the national food of Canada and it is required to be eaten at least once a day. Third, the Trailer Park Boys are a national political party and are currently running the country.
I have to say that it was a pleasure talking with Brittney and you can read the actual interview when you buy a program at either the Toronto or Vancouver Supercross. ‘Till next time … keep your cap handy!
As Todd mentioned, pick up a copy of the official souvenir program at the Toronto or Vancouver Supercross to read the interview with Brittney George. She started racing at the age of five! A bio on Brittney George and some additonal photos can be found at supercross.cc.com (click on MISS SX). See you at the races!
