Canadian Girls hit the Lone Star State

Foster and Prochnavy in staging.

While their male counterparts were duking it out at the Mini O’s in Florida, Canada’s best women racers were battling at the WMA Cup at the Cycle Ranch in Texas.

Pro racers Jessica Foster and Malerie Prochnavy soldiered through two 27-minute motos in 33 degree heat. With a field packed with the best women’s racers in the world, including a record number of European riders, Foster went 15-13 for 13th overall. Prochnavy went 18-18 for 18th overall. Jessica Patterson won with 2-1 motos while Sarah Whitmore was second with 1-2 motos. The field was made up of riders from the U.S, Canada, Russia, Italy, Germany, Belgium, New Zealand and Sweden. The WMA Cup is also features one of the most prestigious amateur women’s races.

Ontario’s Tracy Rowan made the trip, racing both the plus 25 and novice classes. Rowan finished third in the Plus 25 class. Her official novice results were unavailable. Alberta’s Hannah Olynyk was the youngest Canuck to make the trip south. The Olds, Alberta native raced the 60cc class and finished 10th overall.

A huge congrats to all our Canadian ladies for making the long trek to the Lone Star state and doing us proud!
