Lockhart with a podium in Calgary

--press release--

Calgary AB - Round 5 of the Thor / Parts Canada Canadian Arenacross Championships was held Friday night in the Stampede Corral in Calgary Alberta.  Ryan made the easterly trek, from his winter residence in BC.  Ready to repeat the previous weekend's results, the OTSFF Suzuki mounted rider holeshot and won his 125 qualifier over Colton Facciotti.  The 250 qualifier saw Ryan battling two time AMA arenacross champ Darcy Lange, and coming home with a second place finish.  Fridays 125 main event saw Ryan come out of the gate on his RMZ250 in the third position, and maintain that spot till the end, on a tight track that was difficult pass.  The open main started out great for the east coast boy, with the holeshot going into the first turn.  However, contact with a Kawasaki rider found Ryan on the ground and needing to make up time fast.  “NEWF” remounted his bike and charged to a 4th place finish at the checkers.

Saturday night, round six of the series and another night of racing.  In the 125 main event, Ryan ended up with a 5th place start and caught and passed Bart Stephenson for fourth.  With his head down and total focus he set his sights on the third place rider and passed Darcy with three laps to go.  Next corner, he fell over and had to settle for another 4th place finish.  The open main as Ryan put it, was a “gong show.”  Start number one saw the Suzuki mounted rider and Colton tangle in the first corner, block the track and bring out red flag number one.  Second start, Brady Sheren decided to avoid the first turn pile-up by leaving a little early – red flag number two.  Third start and Ryan is down again in the first corner, this time however there is no red flag and he has lots of time to make up.  So much in fact that he is almost lapped by the leader Lange.  Not wanting to be a lap down, Ryan actually pulls away from Lange and makes his way to fourth place behind Marco Dube as the checkers fly.

Ryan is now back in BC, working on bikes and training in the gym, looking forward to the upcoming round in Chilliwack.  Although not completely pleased with his own performance, his equipment worked flawlessly and overall it was a good week-end and he earned valuable points in the series.

Ryan would like to thank his sponsors: OTSFF, TWO Wheel Motorsports, PRO-ACTION Suspension, SHOT MX gear, SPY optics, Gaerne boots, sixsixone, OGIO, CTI2, Orthoflex and M2R helmets.
