Rounds five and six of the Thor Parts Canada Canadian Arenacross Championship were hosted at the Stampede Corral in Calgary Alberta. The Kawasaki duo of Darcy Lange and Colton Facciotti continued to gain speed and consistency and split wins over the weekend with Facciotti winning both mains in the AX2 (125) class while Lange won both mains in the Open class. KTM's Marco Dube scored three podiums on the weekend but will take a break from the series this weekend when he competes in the Bercy Supercross.
The final two rounds will be held in British Columbia (home of Lange, Facciotti and Brady Sheren). Next weekend is in Chilliwack, BC while the series finale will be held in Nanaimo, BC. Check www.arenacross.ca for directions and ticket details.

| Let the games begin! Brady Sheren kicks off the opening ceremonies with a sweet one handed wheelie down the start straight. He would show plenty of speed over the weekend but didn't make his way onto the podium. Look for better things from Brady next weekend as he returns to the familiar confines of the Heritage Park Center at Chilliwack. He's in fourth overall in both classes. |

Buddy the Clown was back again for night two, seen here stealing Marco Dube's helmet. With a Calgary Flames game going on next door, the crowd was a little light but the fans on hand were enthusiastic and there was no shortage of cheering while the action was going on (or when the Hockey score was announced). |

Colton Facciotti pounds the whoops en route to another win in the AX2 Final. The young Richmond Kawasaki rider was on it all weekend, winning both AX2 mains and finishing on the podium in both AX Open mains. |

Fast Alberta up-and-comer Brad Lechelt looked good all weekend. Cracking the top ten both nights, his best finish came in Saturday's Open main where he finished seventh. |

The AX2 podium. Switch the riders around and you have the same as the AX Open podium. With Dube heading to France next weekend to race the Bercy Supercross, it would appear that he has conceded his spot atop the AX2 points standings to his Kawasaki-based rivals. |

The weekends racing featured a "Big Dog" race--a 50cc class for adults. There's nothing like watching riders trying to tackle a full size arenacross track on bikes half their size. With plenty of spills and bar banging action, it was certainly entertaining. |

Calgary's own Bart Stephenson showed great speed all weekend. After a pair of sixth place finishes on Friday, he would run into some bad luck during Saturday's Open main. The crash that caused the first red flag of the race punctured his rad, causing a major coolant leak. While his mechanic held the line, he ran back to the pits to grab his 450 that he had loaned to a friend for the weekend. With seconds to spare he made it to the line and finished with a ninth. Not bad for a bike that wasn't set up for him. |

Ryan Lockhart had a night to forget. After winning his heat race again on Saturday night, bad luck would plague him in the mains. His speed was there but he was only able come away with a pair of fourth place finishes. Look for Ryan to rebound next weekend at Chilliwack, where he won two mains last week at the West Coast Arenacross round. |

Sea of green: Colton Facciotti gets the jump on the second and final restart of the AX Open main. A first turn crash that claimed almost the entire field would lead to the first red flag, then on the following restart Brady Sheren would jump the gate, causing the race to be red flagged again. |

After two restarts the pack is finally away. Bart Stephenson (on his second bike of the race), Brady Sheren, Ryan Lockhart and Justin Stickley blast through the whoops. |

This was a familiar sight: Facciotti leads Lange in the AX Open main. The two battled for half of the race until Darcy stuffed Colton in the final turn before the finish line. Colton would remount and finish second. |

Broc Hoyer made the trek out from BC for the race and ran strong, turning in a pair of seventh's on Friday and upping that to a pair of fifth's on Saturday. Future West's Arenacross series has been a breeding ground of indoor talent on the west coast for the last few years and now that the Hellams have expanded the series across Canada, we can look forward to an all new generation of fast arenacross riders from all across Canada. |

Ouch! Marco Dube goes down hard after a collision with Colton Facciotti. Marco was running second after Facciotti's run in with Lange, but a hard pass by Colton would leave him on the ground. After avoiding several riders who jumped over him, Dube would remount and hold onto third. |

Darcy Lange takes the AX Open checkered flag again on Saturday night. After his aggressive pass on Colton, he would ride uncontested to the finish for the win. With the World Supercross rounds fast approaching, Darcy has made the most of the Canadian AX rounds, gaining speed and consistency at every stop. |

AX Open podium: Consistency is key and these three riders finished on the box in three out of the four mains over the course of the weekend (Ryan Lockhart finished third in AX2 on Friday night). |

The two top guns of Canadian Arenacross share the spotlight at the end of the AX Open main. With the possibility of these two riders lining up for the west coast AMA Supercross Lites series (along with Ryan Lockhart and Brady Sheren) and Mitch Cooke and Dusty Klatt racing the east for Blackfoot Honda, the prospects of Canadian racing on a international level have never looked stronger. |
