Chilliwack B.C -. Round 1 of the West Coast Arenacross series got underway Friday night. In the 125 qualifier, things did not go so well for OTSFF Suzuki rider Ryan Lockhart. His RMZ250 got caught up in the chaos of Colton Facciotti and Dennis Jonon and ending up finishing in 5th position. In the open qualifier, Ryan got the holeshot on his 250 2-stroke and won over Beaton and Facciotti.
Time for the mains. Ryan holeshot the 125 main and led till lap 2 when Beaton got by. Not giving up, Lockhart kept up his pace and Beaton went down in the whoops. Ryan went on to win by 10 seconds over Dylan Lord and Brady Sheren. Holeshot again in the open class for the Springhill N.S. native. He was holding of Facciotti until a bobble and off track excursion cost him the win. He re-found his rhythm and finished in second ahead of Lord.
Saturday night saw round two of the series. Ryan went in much more comfortable and confident, knowing he had the speed and equipment that would take him to the front of the field. His new trainer and Orthoflex knee braces have his knee in the best condition it has been all year, and it shows in his riding. The 125 qualifier saw another good start but Ryan had a hard crash that put him back in the pack and a poor gate pick for the main. The open qualifier was holeshot by Colt on the big 450 Kawi, but Ryan put on a charge and caught and passed him for the win.
The 125 main saw some great clean racing with a battle between Ryan and Colt for the full 20 laps. In the end Ryan had to settle for second, with Lord taking the last step on the podium. The open main saw the RM250 pilot with another holeshot, and he began to check out. Colton went down and Ryan rode away winning easily by 20 seconds and lapping all but the podium finishers of Lord (2nd) and Facciotti (3rd)
After a great week-end of racing, Ryan is stoked and is looking forward to the National round this coming week-end in Calgary. Although not all the National riders were present in Chilliwack, the pace was just as fast with the American presence. With his knee in its best condition in a long time, and the confidence he now has in his OTSFF/ TWO WHEEL Motosports Suzukis, Ryan is on top of his game.
Ryan would like to thank his sponsors, OTSFF, TWO Wheel Motosports, PRO-ACTION Suspension, SHOT MX gear, SPY optics, Gaerne boots, sixsixone, OGIO, CTI2, Orthoflex and M2R helmets.
