MX2 Pro/Am class National format change for 2008
SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

(CMRC press release)

The MX2 Pro/Am series will change from the existing East/West format to a national, nine round, coast to coast series.

The racing action in the MX2 Pro/Am class promises to have double the intensity and excitement at the 2008 CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals now that the series format of 4 Eastern Canadian rounds, 4 Western Canadian rounds, plus the East/West Shootout at the series finale in Walton, Ontario has been changed to a full nine-round championship.

Another change will see the MX2 Pro/Am class riders receive full points towards their overall national number rather than the previous half points awarded.

The East/West format began eight years ago with Josh Woods and Sean Hamblin taking the East/West Championships respectively. The reasoning behind the format then was to encourage participation in the National series and use the MX2 class as a developmental division at the CMRC Pro Nationals.

The series has experienced positive growth to the point where entry levels have exceeded expectations, and participation in the class by manufacturers, teams and privateers has continuously progressed with each passing year. Considering the talent pool that raced in each respective series, the MX2 class can no longer be considered a developing class. It is one that is now compared to the competition level of the premier MX1 division.

CMRC salutes the following past champions of the MX2 East and West series’:
