FMSQ Regional Series: Round 1, Granby, QC, May 10th/11th, 2008.
It was a perfect weather for the opening round of the FMSQ regional series. The pro class was a very competitive race, on a difficult track. The circuit consisted of lots of close woods mixed with a motocross track and an extreme enduro section. Allan Lachapelle had a very good race and rapidly took the second place on his KTM 250 XC-F prepared by KTM dealership Woody’s Cycle. He rode a constant race and finished in 2nd place. Scott Bowes finished 3rd on his KTM 300 XC. KTM Canada’s technician Francis Ouimette finished his first Pro race in 7th position, also on a KTM 300 XC.
For the ATV Pro class on Saturday, KTM dealer Grégoire Sport’s riders did very well for the first race of the season. Michel LaHaye-Genest finished the race in 3rd place with his KTM ATV 525 XC and Amélie Lavallée took the 5th position with her KTM 450 XC.
Ontario CMRC Provincial Series: Round 2, Walton, ON, May 11th, 2008.
Last weekend was the second round of the Ontario CMRC Provincial series at Walton MX track in Ontario. Lots of amateur KTM riders were present to compete in this event. Liam O’Farrell rode in the MX1 class on his KTM 450 SX-F prepared by KTM dealer Orange Motorsports. He had an excellent first moto, battling hard and managing to finish in 2nd position. Unfortunately, he was unlucky in the second moto and had to DNF. He ended up in 8th position overall.
Doug DeHaan, finished 3rd overall after finishing 5th in the first moto and 3rd in the second one on a KTM 450 SX-F. DeHann also raced in the Plus 25 class and finished in 1st position overall. In MX2 KTM rider Trevor Hall had a really good start in the first moto and finished in 4th place but he crashed in the second moto.
At an amateur level, KTM Canada wants to congratulate the results of KTM dealership Elite Performance’s riders in Walton.
BC CMRC Provincial Series, Round 3, Kamloops, BC, May 11th, 2008.
KTM rider Kris Foster dominated the 3rd round of the CMRC provincial series in Kamloops, BC last weekend. He had a perfect day on Sunday. Very smooth, as usual, he crossed the finish line in first place in the MX1 class with his KTM 450 SX-F.
Manitoba CMRC Provincial Series: Round 2, Morden, MB, May 11th, 2008.
After great results at the opening round of the season last weekend, Ryan Millar takes it all again and completed a perfect weekend at the second round of the Manitoba CMRC Provincial Series. He won the MX2 Intermediate class on his KTM 250 SX-F. He also raced in the Youth class and he crossed the finish line in 1st place.
AMVA Series: Round 1, Val d’Or, QC, May 10th, 2008.
The first round of the AMVA series took place at the Twin Track in Val d’Or, QC. The event was in a MX sand track and there was about 135 racers participating. Bobby Desjardins rode in the ATV pro class of the event. He participated to this race to practice his abilities on a sand track. He had an amazing race and finished 1st in the two motos and also in 1st place overall on his KTM ATV 525 XC prepared by Moto des Ruisseaux.
GNCC ATV Series: round 6, Millfield, OH, May 10th, 2008.
KTM riders Adam McGill and Taylor Kiser finished second and third respectively at the 6th round of the ATV GNCC Series. The 6th round, also known as the John Penton Classic, marked a very successful day for both KTM riders. McGill got a great jump and rounded the first turn in third position off the start. His teammate, Kiser, was a few spots back in seventh. By the end of the first lap McGill had moved into second and Kiser was sitting right behind him in third. With six rounds down McGill still holds the series points lead over Bill Balance. The points earned at this round helped Kiser move up to sixth in overall points.
Knight makes the best of the worst at round 6 of GNCC Series
GNCC Bike Series: round 6, Millfield, OH, May 10th, 2008.
Red Bull KTM rider David Knight made the best out of the worst as he battled his way into 4th place during the worst race conditions seen so far this season at the John Penton event that marked the 6th round of the GNCC Series. Despite the horrible track conditions, Knight and his Red Bull KTM teammate, Nathan Kanney, had great starts as they both came around the first corner inside the top three. Both riders swapped 2nd and 3rd position through the first two laps of the race. Unfortunately, Kanney’s day ended on the end of the third lap when his bike seized after too much water found its way into the airbox. Kanney’s early departure from the race still earned him 14th overall. Meanwhile, his teammate Knight, who was also slowed up by the mud, managed to finish 5 laps finishing 4th overall. Now six rounds into the season, Knight still holds the points lead.
GP MX2: Round 4, Sevielo, Bulgaria, May 11th, 2008.
Red Bull KTM factory rider Tommy Searle stopped the hearts of all spectators of the second MX2 moto in Sevielo, Bulgaria on Sunday when he swept past fellow KTM rider Shaun Simpson in the last seconds of the race to take the top podium spot in the GP. Red Bull KTM's Tyla Rattray made a good comeback in the MX2 second moto to finish overall second. Shaun Simpson was on the podium for the first time in third place to complete a complete clean sweep of the podium for KTM. The Bulgarian GP was very successful for KTM with six of the top eight riders on their machines.
GP MX1: Round 4, Sevielo, Bulgaria, May 11th, 2008.
KTM Team Silver Action rider Jonathan Barragan looked certain to take victory in the second moto and seal his MX1 Grand Pix win in Sevlievo, Bulgaria on Sunday when a mistake in the last stretch of race two denied him the overall victory. "I made a mistake in the last lap and lost my position. Without this I know I would have won today. I was very fast this weekend and I know I can win races.’’ Said Barragan. It was also a disappointing day for Red Bull KTM factory rider Max Nagl of Germany. Despite snatching the holeshot in both heats of the MX1, he finished in eighth position overall in the GP.
