Ryan Lockhart finishes in 2nd place in Clyde River
CMRC Regional MX Race, Clyde River, NS, May 4th, 2008.
KTM Royal Distributing Thor Riverside MX rider, Ryan Lockhart participated in a CMRC Regional MX race in Clyde River last weekend. He was racing in the MX2 class and the GP Pro Class on his KTM 250 SX-F. Lockhart had an excellent day as he finished 2overall in MX2.
He had a great start in both motos and rode hard to put his KTM up front. In the GP Pro class he also crossed the finished line in second position. With those great results in hands, Lockhart is really looking forward to start the 2008 MX2 National Series season in Ste-Julie on May 25, 2008.
KTM amateur riders performed well at Ontario Provincial season opener
CMRC Ontario Provincial Series: Round 1, Gopher Dunes, ON, May 4, 2008.
KTM amateur riders were really competitive this weekend in the CMRC Provincial Series opener in Gopher Dunes, Ontario. In the MX1 Pro Class, KTM best finish was South African Liam O’Farrell with a 4position on his KTM 450 SX-F. Iain Hayden ended up in 6place also with his KTM 450 SX-F. Trevor Hall and Doug Dehaan crossed the finished line respectively in 11and 14position. In MX2, Trevor Hall and Johnny Silegren finished in 6th and 10th position on their KTM 250 SX-F.
In ATV racing, Travis Carpenter accomplished a perfect race in the Intermediate class and took the first place. As for KTM ATV rider, Keith Bokla he finished an excellent 2nd place overall in the Pro class.
Michael Leon and Erick Beauséjour, who will both compete in the Canadian Thunder Class on 990 Super Duke R models this year, stopped by Shannonville road race track last week for the Street Dealer Introduction. Despite the rainy (and snowy) conditions, the guys had the time to put on a few laps on the track.
2008 CMA National Enduro: Beagle Bash, Round 1, Turkey Point, ON, April 26, 2008.
The opening round of the 2008 CMA National Enduro was held by Lynn Valley Dirt Rider Club in Turkey Point, Ontario
on April 26, 2008. KTM riders Allan Lachapelle and Patrick Beaulé were enrolled in the master class of the main event. The two racers battled hard all race and tried to keep their podium position. It was an extremely tight race. Allan Lachapelle crossed the finish line in second place on his KTM 300 XC prepared by KTM dealer Woody’s Cycle followed by KTM Canada racer, Patrick Beaulé on his KTM 250 XC. Only 22 seconds distinguished the 1st and 3position.
Nick Wey finishes in 9th place overall in SX series
US Supercross Series: Round 17, Las Vegas, NV, May 3rd, 2008.
The final round of the Supercross Series that kicked off at Sam Boyd Stadium was jam packed of the world's finest riders including MDK KTM Factory rider Nick Wey. The Supercross main event was a replay of Wey's heat as he came flying out of the gate in 3position. Andrew Short managed to make a pass on Wey, but Wey stayed close and maintained 4position for a while longer until Reed made a move. Soon he was battling for 5with Honda's Davi Millsaps. On the last lap, Wey tried to make a pass stick but bobbled over a jump allowing Millsaps to jump ahead as they crossed the finish line. In his best looking ride of the season Wey finished 6. With this 6place, Wey ends the season in 9position overall.
Justin Brayton 6th in Lites class shoot out
US Supercross Lites Series: Round 9, Las Vegas, NV, May 3rd, 2008.
Shoot out of the Supercross Lites Series that kicked off with MDK KTM Lites Team riders Justin Brayton, Matt Goerke, and Ryan Sipes. The first KTM to come into the stadium off the start of the West vs. East Coast Shoot Out was Goerke sitting in 8. Just short of the halfway mark, Goerke had worked his way into 6and was closing fast on the 5 place ride of Ryan Morias when he crashed hard over a small table jump before the finish line.
Goerke's crash knocked the wind out of him and caused him to retire from the race. Meanwhile, Sipes, who was still down a lap after his start, was giving his best effort to catch any rider he could. By the end of the moto, he ended up 19overall. The highlight of the Shoot Out was Brayton's charge through the pack. When the checkered flag flew he had moved his way up from 18to 6less than a bike length back from the 5place rider.
MX: Sven Breugelmans wins Round four of the MX3 World Championship!
MX3 GP: Round 4, Plomion, France, May 4, 2008.
KTM factory rider Sven Breugelmans of Belgium came home strongly in the two motos of the fourth round of the MX3 World Championship in Plomion in France to finish third and first and take the top podium spot for the day. Riding for the JM Racing Team, Sven was third in the first moto but lacked a little feeling and rhythm. But after consultations with team boss Jacky Martens in between the two heats he went out hard and fast in the second and took the 1st place. The 45 championship points bumped up his total to 156 and he trails Beggi, the leader, by just five points.
Road Race: Double victory for Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama!
Grand Prix of China, 250cc: Round 4, Shanghai, China, May 4, 2008.
Red Bull KTM 250 stars Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama mastered treacherous conditions in today's wet Grand Prix of China to score a fantastic double victory for KTM. It was the second one-two for the Austrian manufacturer in the 250 cc category after Aoyama won the German Grand Prix last year ahead of his team-mate. Pole-sitter Alvaro Bautista had established an early lead, but when the young Spaniard crashed out on the ninth lap of the race, Kallio had a clear track ahead and rode to a comfortable win despite increasing grip problems on the drying tarmac. With two victories and four podium finishes in four races so far, the Finn extended his world championship lead to a massive 21 points. Aoyama, who tried so hard to catch Kallio that he opened up a gap of no less than 13 seconds to Mattia Pasini in third place.
Raod Race: Raffaele de Rosa top KTM 125 rider in China
Grand Prix of China, 125cc: Round 4, Shanghai, China, May 4, 2008.
Racing on a damp and tricky surface in the 125 cc race of the Grand Prix of China, Team Onde 2000 KTM rider Raffaele de Rosa established himself in the top five but crashed in the thirteenth lap. He then finished in ninth to be the top KTM rider. Repsol KTM riders Esteve Rabat and Marc Marquez fought hard against each other to finish in eleventh and twelfth position, ISPA KTM Aran rider Tomoyoshi Koyama was the fourth KTM 125 rider within the point rankings in thirteenth place.
