The CMA has only just learned of the death, at the age of 92, of Ed Hawkes of Lachine, Quebec. Mr. Hawkes, holding Life Membership #3, was active at all levels of motorcycling where he held numerous elected positions at club, Quebec Region and CMA National. He was CMA National President in 1954, 1958 and 1959. He was made Honourary CMA President in 1996 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Association. Earlier, in 1976, he received the CMA Award of Merit “for more than 20 years of dedication to the CMA with special recognition of his efforts in bringing BC into the CMA and assistance in establishing the American Motorcycle Association with world governing body, FIM”.
Ed is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fee, and a niece Gail.
